Plus X Award expands into the services sector

Press & Media

Expert jury for insurance and finance presented

Since the start of the current entry period, the world's largest innovation prize for technology, sport and lifestyle has for the first time also been recognising products from the services sector.

For this purpose a new jury panel of finance and insurance experts was formed, which over a period of several weeks recognised the best tariffs and providers in the insurance industry with the three quality seals for Innovation, Transparency and Scope of services. These three quality seals give end consumers valuable guidance in choosing the right tariff and an overview of the market.

Oliver Hautmann, founder and owner of the eXperiens management consultancy and for many years a managing director in an insurance group, took the chair of the newly formed competence panel and presented the following expert jurors for the field in Cologne:

  • Prof. Dr Alyosh Agarwal: the lecturer at Macromedia University has worked in consulting for insurance companies for a long time and is currently managing director of Applaud GmbH, which he founded and which develops applications for insurance companies.
  • Peter Bornschein: as Leading Consultant, Peter Bornschein advises insurance companies for IIC Solutions and is an experienced expert in the development of insurance products.
  • Peter Geimer: the qualified business graduate owns a practice for tax and finance and was active for many years for a tax consultancy and auditing firm, most recently as authorised officer.
  • Christian Glombitza: the trained bank clerk was for a long time an adviser in the financial services sector and has worked as an independent broker for five years.

As in the classic areas of the Plus X Award, the focus when presenting the awards lies primarily on considering the quality aspects of a product and less on the quantitative “value for money”. In the insurance market in particular, where comparison portals are the main source of a market overview, this represents a more differentiated way of looking at things for the end consumer and rewards the corresponding premium products.

Panel chairman Oliver Hautmann explains the Plus X Award's approach in the insurance field: “With the seals we can give guidance to the consumer for whom top performance, and thus the best protection against their risks, matters. The insurer is enabled to put its actual purpose in the foreground, to differentiate itself through performance. It is also important to promote transparency and to give an advantage to those companies that are prepared to be honest and to communicate benefits and restrictions clearly,” says Hautmann.

All insurance companies can submit their products in the main jury entry phase of the Plus X Award until 15 January 2016. In the middle of next year, the “insurer of the year” will also be honoured at the Plus X Award Night, broadcast as a television programme across Europe. You will find the form for submitting products under the navigation item Entry.
