With the Changhong CHiQ BCD-625WP9B, the running gag of connected household appliances arrives in the kitchen – but in a quite different way. This 625-litre side-by-side refrigerator has an internet connection via the home network. Unlike previous concepts, it confines itself to letting its four zones – each separately adjustable for temperature and humidity – be controlled via a smartphone app, and to suggesting what one might sensibly eat. Doors and drawers are designed so that the drawers can be pulled out completely even when the doors can only be opened 90 degrees. Condensation in the drawers is collected so that food does not spoil – and is then used to regulate the humidity in the four zones.
