In industrial laundries, ordinary washing machines would be hopelessly overwhelmed – unlike special barrier washers such as those of the Electrolux Evolution series, which wash up to 20, 27 or 38 kilograms of laundry in a single cycle depending on the model. That laundry is then not merely clean but hygienically pure: barrier washers are therefore built into a dividing wall so that clean and dirty are guaranteed not to meet. On both sides there are doors that swing open through 175 degrees, and the inner drum doors open wide enough for comfortable loading and unloading. There are likewise control and information elements on both sides, on which 40 preset and 15 user-defined programmes can be set and used. At 910 revolutions, spinning removes enough water from the laundry for drying to be carried out economically.
