From the jury's assessment
The new convertible from Opel is a classic four-seater with an elongated silhouette and an elaborately made quality fabric roof. A length of just under 4.70 metres and a width of 1.84 metres position the new open-air model in the middle class. The Cascada offers undiluted driving pleasure, ensured by the extremely stiff body, the HiPerStrut front axle and the adaptive mechatronic FlexRide chassis system. Driver and passengers can feel the wind in their faces in next to no time – at the touch of a button the fabric roof opens in 17 seconds, and that at speeds of up to 50 km/h, which makes the Cascada roof system one of the best on the market. A high degree of comfort and safety for carefree driving enjoyment is ensured by electric seat belt presenters, exclusive nappa leather and ventilated, ergonomic seats as well as numerous safety systems. With hand-made modules, the Cascada cockpit displays an exceptional, sporting elegance. The sweeping dashboard flows dynamically into the doors and thus surrounds driver and front passenger. With soft, hand-stitched materials the instrument panel offers an excellent feel. The load volume in the boot ranges from 280 litres with the roof open to up to 350 litres with the roof closed. To enlarge the load space or to transport particularly long objects, the Cascada has the FlexFold system, which releases the rear seat backs remotely and folds them in a 50:50 ratio.
