The zero-emission study Showcar CES from Volkswagen represents a step into the future. Showing the completely new interpretation of the much-beloved Bulli, VW also used CES in Las Vegas for the world premiere of its modular electrification building system MEB. The new electric drive moves all four wheels at the same time with an overall of 235 kW / 317 hp. The power storages needed for the drive are located in the bottom of the car. This doesn’t only result in a very low center of gravity, but also allows a completely new interior design. Once charged, the Showcar CES can drive up to 533 km far (according to NEFZ criteria). Once the battery is empty, a charging time of 30 minutes is enough to generate 80 per cent of the range. In addition, the Showcar CES features the next generation of infotainment with an even more intuitive combination of touch and gesture control. The borders between the single displays melt into a large-format presentation, and even the exterior mirrors become digital screens.
