UHD cooperation with ANIXE
Plus X Award and ANIXE agree UHD cooperation
The television standard of the future, freely receivable today
The innovation prize Plus X Award and the television channel ANIXE announced a cooperation today, Thursday, to push the subject of ultra high definition.
Ultra high definition technology brings content to televisions at four times full HD resolution. Until now, however, the greater part of the content available has been limited to paid streaming services requiring additional devices. The new Blu-ray standard for playing UHD is also not due to be available to end consumers until the end of 2015.
The Plus X Award Night 2014, the prize-giving of the world's largest innovation prize for technology, sport and lifestyle from June this year, will also shortly be broadcast on ANIXE in an ultra HD version. The Plus X Award has been producing the documentary on its prize-giving in future-proof 4K for six years already. Four years ago, with the Plus X Award Night 2010, the world's first full-length TV broadcast of an awards ceremony in 3D was even shown on ANIXE.
Donat Brandt, President of the Plus X Award, is pleased about the extended cooperation with technology pioneer ANIXE: “The Plus X Award has always seen itself as a symbol of innovative strength and technological progress. With this strategic alliance we want to seize the chance to bring the subject of UHD more strongly to the fore in the German market and to act as a pathfinder for retail and industry. The immediate availability of 4K content on German free-to-air TV is a strong argument for retail, and it is an important signal for end consumers that UHD television is already possible today on a free reception path,” says Brandt.
Internet and technology pioneer Emmanouil Lapidakis, managing director of ANIXE, also sees a great opportunity in the cooperation: “We are very pleased to have found in the Plus X Award an internationally established, credible partner and ambassador in consumer electronics. Our position as the only provider of UHD content on free-to-air TV also allows us to realise further joint content shortly.”
The Plus X Award recognises products and technologies for their lead in innovation. All manufacturers have the opportunity to take part in the innovation prize's early jury until 15 January 2015.
