The jury of the PLUS X AWARD sees in Thilo Sommerauer one of the most innovative entrepreneurs and most inventive engineers in the biomass heating industry, because he will lastingly change and shape the global heating market and its technology. His strong will to realise his visions is outstanding and serves a single purpose: to make human life more worth living, to improve the environment on our planet and to advance climate protection quickly and efficiently.
With his invention, the ECOS hybrid biomass heating system, he and his team have created one of the most modern, cleanest and at the same time most efficient biomass heating systems in the world, surpassing every particulate and efficiency record of recent decades. His technology will make it possible to save millions of tonnes of CO2 in future, to protect the climate highly efficiently and to improve people's quality of life.
With his product inventions he impressed the jury as the first entrepreneur in the history of the PLUS X AWARD to such a degree that they were awarded 7 seals of approval (Innovation, High Quality, Design, Ease of use, Functionality, Ergonomics and Ecology). He is thus the first and so far only person to reach this maximum number of seals – and he repeated this extraordinary achievement the following year. World brands distinguished by the PLUS X AWARD such as Apple, VW, Porsche and Dyson have not reached such a maximum number of seals, which underlines the particular standing of Mr Sommerauer's invention.
His products have repeatedly been honoured as the best products and the most innovative biomass heating systems, and the Sommerauer brand has been named the best and most innovative brand. With an official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the world's most energy-efficient biomass heating system, his creation – the ECOS biomass heating system – is listed in the famous GUINNESS BOOK of records.
For this outstanding GUINNESS world record, Mr Thilo Sommerauer and his team were honoured in a personal video message by the Federal Chancellor of Austria, who conveyed his respect and congratulations on this special achievement.
23 particulate world records and 24 efficiency world records (confirmed by test reports and market analysis reports from TÜV Süd) stand for one of the most innovative and efficient heating technologies of our time. With currently 13 patents (European and in further countries) and 147 variants of his inventions, Mr Thilo Sommerauer – officially registered inventor of all the patents – underlines his unique standing as an entrepreneur.
With his ECOS technology, the entrepreneur Mr Thilo Sommerauer has twice been nominated for the world's largest environmental prize, the Energy Globe, which shows its great significance.
