The YI in the name of the YI Technology M1 system camera stands for Young Innovators. Known for action cams, the company known in China under the name Xiaoyi entered the market for system cameras. In order not to reinvent the wheel, it relies on the open Micro Four Thirds system initiated by Panasonic and Olympus and its lens-sensor combination standard. YI Technology couples this with a touchscreen operating system modelled on the smartphone operation of today. The intention is to appeal precisely to the Young Innovators for whom touch operation has become second nature. Under the bonnet one of the most current 20-megapixel sensors from Sony for MFT provides an outstanding basis for good photos and videos.
