Plus X Award for Germany's best specialist retail and specialist trade brands

Exactly 51 brands receive the special award. With their concepts they protect and support important sales channels.

Germany's specialist retail and specialist trades have voted: the best specialist retail and specialist trade brands of 2018 have been determined. A total of 51 brands receive the special award of the Plus X Award, the world's largest innovation prize for technology, sport and lifestyle.

With its special award the Plus X Award honours the brands that render particular service – namely in partnership-based cooperation with retail and the trades; brands that support retail and the trades with special assistance and training programmes, and that in some cases develop their own sales channels and product lines for them.

Over a period of four weeks, Germany's specialist retailers and tradespeople were called upon to vote for their favourite brands. A total of 2,137 industry representatives cast their votes in the online survey which the Plus X Award carried out in cooperation with the German Institute for Product and Market Assessment.

The importance of specialist retail and the specialist trades is greater today than ever. “It is important that industry understands that it should protect and support precisely these sales channels, out of its own interest alone,” says Donat Brandt. As founder and President he heads the Plus X Award. He explains this importance with a vivid example: “In times of ever stronger distance selling, many end consumers make the wrong purchases out of ignorance. One of the reasons for that is the frequent lack of expert advice. When a customer makes a purchase without guidance and later discovers that the product does not match their expectations or their intended use at all, they need help from specialist retail or the specialist trades.” Often it is then only a matter of limiting the damage.

Partnership-based cooperation between manufacturers and retail or the trades is becoming ever more important – also in order to be able to satisfy customers,” stresses Donat Brandt. “The awards for best specialist retail brand and best specialist trade brand in particular show that the management of the recognised brands has understood this value and that their sales departments too work with retail and the trades very responsibly and in a spirit of partnership.”

The awards for best specialist retail and specialist trade brand 2018 are important B-to-B awards that know how to honour precisely the achievements of management and sales, and thus of the whole brand.
