These are Germany's best retailers 2020
PLUS X AWARD for the best retailers
A PLUS X AWARD consumer survey determines Germany's best retailers of 2020.
In 2020 the PLUS X AWARD identified exactly 49 retailers that had rendered outstanding service to their customers.
Successful retailers have to orient themselves constantly to the needs of end consumers in order to meet their wishes and requirements. Service, quality and professional advice are only three of many criteria that end consumers expect from retailers today.
Unlike the majority of the established PLUS X AWARD seals, the award “Germany's best retailer” is based not on the judgement of an expert jury but on that of end consumers themselves. To find out which companies German customers were most satisfied with in 2020, the PLUS X AWARD commissioned a consumer survey.
For this purpose, in May 2020 the German Institute for Product and Market Assessment surveyed exactly 6,312 men and women from all federal states aged between 20 and 65 on behalf of the PLUS X AWARD in order to generate a clear picture of opinion.
With the award “Germany's best retailer”, however, the PLUS X AWARD wants not only to honour the work of the companies and their employees but above all to strengthen and protect qualified bricks-and-mortar retail.
The respondents' answers allow us to put the spotlight on those retailers that set their priorities correctly, which is necessary precisely in the fast-moving market we observe today. Not only do companies today have to reach their consumers through two channels, in store and online; end consumers' expectations are also rising, as is their sometimes very justified scepticism towards an increasingly opaque range of goods and services. The seal “Germany's best retailer” sends a clear signal of transparency here and points unambiguously to professional retail attributes such as a high-quality range, attractive pricing and customer-oriented service.
– Donat Brandt, President of the PLUS X AWARD –
Particularly in times of the coronavirus pandemic, which brought uncertainty for retailers and consumers alike, Germany's best retailers of 2020 showed professional crisis management and proved that even in difficult times they were willing and able to make satisfied customers their priority. In bricks-and-mortar retail in particular, which was severely affected by restrictions, curfews and strict hygiene measures, they mastered the great challenge of offering customers a positive shopping experience and, despite all adversity, of maintaining a stable closeness to their customers.
